Before there was Eric Wright, there was Eric Wright.
Back in the 80s, the San Francisco 49ers also had a cornerback who, coincidentally, wore the No. 21. EW was only a young child when the older Wright was playing, but as he explained, he was aware of him.
Growing up, my parents saw that I liked sports a lot. I was a huge 49ers fan, even when I was a small child. I watched the games all the time. The 49ers actually had a cornerback named Eric Wright when I was growing up. My parents swear up and down that's not who I was named after. I knew who he was, but I didn't watch him specifically. He stopped playing when I was really young. Later on in life, we developed a connection because I played against his son in high school and knew him through other people in the area. He still lives in that area. He's a really cool guy too. When I played in my Pop Warner games and even all throughout high school, people would always ask me if that was my dad.
