Sweeping Carolina

When it comes to the Carolina Panthers in the 2012 season, No. 21 and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers have a reason to smile.

Tampa picked up its fourth consecutive victory, completing a 2-0 season sweep of their NFC South rival Carolina Panthers with a 27-21 overtime victory.

Eric racked up three solo tackles in the win, giving him 39 on the year, fifth among all Tampa Bay defenders. He and the rest of the Bucs secondary did its best to contain Carolina quarterback Cam Newton, and did well, keeping any receiver from reaching 100 yards receiving.

As noted on

Cam Newton was 5-of-17 in the first half with nine of his 12 incompletions resulting from overthrown passes.

Newton tallied 252 yards, but reached the end zone just once in the game and was sacked twice.

In comparison, Tampa quarterback Josh Freeman emerged as the hero, finding tight end Dallas Clark on a wheel route for a 15-yard touchdown in overtime, and the W.
